Cimarron Software Services Inc is Hiring an Electrical Designer Near Kennedy Space Center, FL

Job Description:

Cimarron is seeking Electrical Designers to support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The ML2 will be used, like the first mobile launcher, as the platform for assembling and testing the Space Launch System (SLS) in the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center, transporting the rocket to Launch Complex 39B, and supporting the vehicle’s launch. The platform includes various interfaces for fueling the rocket, providing power and data, and a crew access arm.

These positions are expected to last 7 months with the possibility of extension. This opportunity offers a competitive salary and the opportunity for additional cash-in-lieu of benefits. This is a hybrid opportunity that will allow for some remote work (i.e. some days in the office, some days work from home).

Key Duties:

  • Be responsible for circuit and raceway design, equipment location and layout, C&R schedule inputes and updates, and conduit and aboveground raceway design.
  • Work under the direction of the Engineering Group Supervisor and coordinate work with other designers.
  • Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of lighting, communications, grounding layout, grounding designs/calculations, and lightning protection systems.
  • Ensure that the electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Interface with Construction and Subcontractors, if needed.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
  • Capable of independent creative design, with direction, using industry-proven concepts and procedures.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of NEC code.
  • Hands-on experience with raceway and electrical equipment layouts.
  • Must have proven 2D CADD skills.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work well with others and within a team.
  • Ability to collaborate well with other disciplines.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 9 or more years of related design experience, or Associate of Arts or Science and 5 or more years of related experience.

Additional requirements for mid-level:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 12 or more years of related design experience, or Associate of Arts or Science and 9 or more years of related experience.

Additional requirements for senior-level:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 15 or more years of related design experience, or Associate of Arts or Science and 12 or more years of related experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Experience with a 3D electrical model design platform.
  • Experience with CREO design tools.
  • Experience with an electronic Cable Management System, such as the SETROUTE program, and the ability to input and complete corrections to the database.
  • Previous NASA and/or Kennedy Space Center experience.

Additional requirements for mid and senior-level positions:

  • Previous lead designer or supervisory experience.
